2018 werd gekocht en opgeknapt. Toen we in een camper door Europa reisden om huizen te bekijken die te koop stonden, stuitten mijn vader en ik op dit juweeltje en keken niet meer om.<\/p>\n<p>We begonnen met de ambitie om het pand nieuw leven in te blazen en het om te vormen tot een thuis weg van huis. Sindsdien is het project gegroeid, zijn de gasten enkele van onze beste vrienden geworden en ziet het pand meer leven dan ooit tevoren.<\/p>\n<p>Hoewel de agriturismo steeds populairder wordt en de to do-lijst langer, zal mijn focus altijd gericht zijn op ontwikkeling in lijn met de kernfilosofie\u00ebn die ons hier in de eerste plaats hebben gebracht:  <strong>gasten behandelen<\/strong> als familie,  <strong>innoveren<\/strong> op manieren die dingen leuker maken, en het belangrijkste,  <strong>het delen van<\/strong> onze liefde voor  <strong>goede wijn<\/strong> en  <strong>lekker eten.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Dit alles zou niet mogelijk zijn zonder de gedrevenheid en het harde werk van onze fantastische medewerkers, waarvan de meesten er al vanaf het begin bij zijn. Toen we in een camper door Europa reisden om huizen te bekijken die te koop stonden, stuitten mijn vader en ik op dit juweeltje en keken niet meer om.<\/p>\n<p>We begonnen met de ambitie om de agriturismo nieuw leven in te blazen en om te vormen tot een thuis weg van huis. Sindsdien is het project gegroeid, zijn de gasten enkele van onze beste vrienden geworden en ziet het pand meer leven dan ooit tevoren.<\/p>\n<p>Hoewel de agriturismo steeds populairder wordt en de to do-lijst langer, zal mijn focus altijd gericht zijn op ontwikkeling in lijn met de kernfilosofie\u00ebn die ons hier in de eerste plaats hebben gebracht:  <strong>Gasten behandelen<\/strong> als familie, <strong>innoveren<\/strong> op manieren die het leuker maken, en vooral onze liefde voor <strong>goede wijn<\/strong> en <strong>lekker eten<\/strong> <strong>delen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Dit alles zou niet mogelijk zijn zonder de gedrevenheid en het harde werk van onze fantastische medewerkers, waarvan de meesten er al vanaf het begin bij zijn. Dit statuut was het oudste in zijn soort dat in het Italiaans was geschreven (traditioneel werden statuten in het Latijn geschreven), en bevatte besluiten die waren opgesteld en be\u00ebdigd door dezelfde bewoners van het kasteel die Travale bestuurden en die uiteindelijk de constitutionele eenheid van de toekomstige gemeente vormden. Dit document wordt beschouwd als het <strong>eerste bewijs<\/strong> van de vorming van de <strong>Italiaanse taal<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h6>Giacomo Papocchi &#8211; De beschermheilige van Montieri<\/h6>\n<p>In 1242 werd een jonge plaatselijke mijnwerker, Giacomo Papocchi, beschuldigd van het stelen van zilver uit de mijnen. Hij werd veroordeeld tot amputatie van zijn rechterhand en linkervoet. De historische consensus is echter dat Giacomo geen dief was. Hij was gewoon een &#8220;Montierino&#8221;, die zoals elke goede en ware &#8220;Montierino&#8221; in opstand kwam tegen de onderdrukkende uitbuiting van de invloedrijke machten in Volterra en Siena. Giacomo wilde zijn misdaad uitwissen in de ogen van zijn God en besloot dat de beste manier om dat te doen zou zijn zichzelf op te sluiten in een cel bij de kerk die boven het dorp uittorent. Hij had 46 jaar lang op deze manier berouw. Hij stierf een heilige dood op<sup>28<\/sup> december 1289 en werd de <strong>beschermheilige<\/strong> van het dorp.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h6>Mijnbouw hervat<\/h6>\n<p>In de <strong><sup>14e<\/sup> eeuw<\/strong> begon het zilver op te raken. Montieri ging een donkere tijd tegemoet tot de tweede helft van de<sup>18e<\/sup> eeuw, toen een beroemde mijnwerker, Giovanni Arduino, hier <strong>koper<\/strong> ontdekte en enkele mijnen opende, waaronder Carbonaie gelegen bij Prategiano in Montieri. De mijnbouw bloeide weer op in het begin van 1900 toen Montecatini S.p.A. begon met het opgraven van koper, en later <strong>pyriet<\/strong><b>.<\/b> Dit leidde tot een andere economische boom voor het gebied, er werd een spoorweg aangelegd om het erts van Montieri naar Piombino te vervoeren, waar het werd verwerkt. De overblijfselen van deze spoorweg zijn nog steeds te zien.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<h6>De toekomst van Montieri<\/h6>\n<p>De laatste mijn, in Campiano, sloot haar deuren in <strong>1994<\/strong><b>.<\/b> Campiano ligt dicht bij de stad Boccheggiano en is zichtbaar vanuit het hotel. Sindsdien bevindt Montieri zich in een overgangsperiode. Veel jongeren zijn de afgelopen 30 jaar gevlucht naar groenere weiden in de steden, waar werk te vinden was.  <\/p>\n<p>De laatste tijd gaat het echter weer de goede kant op. <strong>Het toerisme<\/strong> is gegroeid dankzij de natuurlijke schoonheid, met regelmatig nieuwe agriturismi en hotels, en de diensten zijn meegegroeid. Campiano is gekocht door een aantal ondernemers en wordt omgebouwd tot een helikopteropslag, bakkerij en meer.  <span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-size: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-size ); font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight ); word-spacing: var( --e-global-typography-text-word-spacing );\">Montieri was ook de pionier van de beroemde  <\/span><strong>&#8220;1 euro<\/strong><span style=\"color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; font-size: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-size ); font-weight: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-weight ); word-spacing: var( --e-global-typography-text-word-spacing );\">  programma, waarbij het zijn huizen voor een euro verkocht (met de toezegging het pand op te knappen) om mensen te verleiden naar de stad terug te keren en de staat van de gebouwen te verbeteren, wat ertoe leidde dat veel ex-bewoners en hun nakomelingen terugkeerden om hier zomers en vakanties door te brengen.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p>Over het geheel genomen is de <strong>toekomst rooskleurig<\/strong> voor dit geweldige hoekje van de wereld, en we zijn er helemaal verliefd op geworden.
